Essential Morocco Travel Tips

April is one of the finest times to visit Morocco. Here's everything you need to arrive confident and prepared.

๐Ÿ’ฐ Currency

Morocco's currency is the Moroccan Dirham (MAD). The dirham cannot be exchanged outside Morocco, so only convert what you need. Unused dirhams can be changed back at the airport upon departure with proof of your original exchange. ATMs are plentiful in all cities and the easiest way to get local cash. Credit cards work in hotels, large restaurants, and shops โ€” but always carry cash for souks, taxis, and small vendors.

โ˜€๏ธ April Weather

April is widely considered one of the best months to visit Morocco. Expect pleasant temperatures of 18โ€“25ยฐC (64โ€“77ยฐF) across Casablanca, Fez, Rabat, and Marrakech. The countryside is lush and green from winter rains, and sunshine is plentiful. Pack light layers โ€” mornings and evenings can be cool, especially in Fez and Rabat. A light jacket is recommended. Expect mostly dry, sunny weather throughout your trip.

๐Ÿ—ฃ๏ธLanguage

Morocco's official languages are Arabic (Darija) and Berber (Tamazight). French is very widely spoken in tourism, business, and everyday life โ€” a few French phrases will serve you well. English is increasingly understood in tourist areas and among younger Moroccans. Your private guides will be fluent and fully equipped to bridge any language gaps throughout the journey.

๐Ÿ‘—What to Wear

Morocco is a Muslim-majority country and modest dress is appreciated โ€” especially in medinas, mosques, and smaller towns. Cover shoulders and knees at religious sites. Light, breathable fabrics are ideal for April's warmth. Bring comfortable walking shoes โ€” medina streets are cobblestone. A light scarf is practical for sun protection and for entering mosques or holy sites.

๐Ÿ›๏ธ Shopping & Bargaining

Haggling in the souks is expected and part of the experience โ€” not rude at all. Start lower than your target price and enjoy the friendly exchange. Always keep small bills handy, as vendors rarely have change for large notes. The medinas of Fez and Marrakech offer extraordinary leather goods, ceramics, hand-woven textiles, spices, and handmade jewelry at prices you won't find anywhere else.

โœˆ๏ธ Passport & Visa

Most US travelers do not need a visa for Morocco for stays up to 90 days. Ensure your passport is valid for at least 6 months beyond your travel dates. Always confirm your passport is stamped on entry โ€” some travelers have encountered difficulties at departure without an entry stamp. International flights are not included; we recommend booking well in advance as April is peak season.

๐Ÿ’Š Health & Safety

Morocco is generally safe and very tourist-friendly. No mandatory vaccinations are required, but Hepatitis A/B, tetanus, and typhoid are commonly recommended โ€” consult your doctor before travel. Personal travel insurance is strongly advised (not included in this tour). Drink bottled water. Your tour includes 24/7 emergency ground support throughout the entire journey.

๐Ÿ“ฑ Power & Connectivity

Morocco uses Type C and E power outlets at 220V โ€” the same as continental Europe. US travelers will need a universal adapter. Wi-Fi is available in all 4-star hotels. Affordable local SIM cards are available if you'd like data on the go. Check with your mobile carrier about international roaming rates before departure.
